How About Some Good News

I hear a lot of bad news these days.  The world is going to end, everybody is an enemy, a recession is coming, everything I eat is going to give me cancer, somewhere between 60-110% of millennials are apparently leaving the church, the list goes on.

Well, I’ve got some great news!  Jesus is still on the throne, and there are still plenty of people who want to know him and partner with him in bringing his love and redemption to a broken planet!  Over the past month, we’ve had around 300 people come back to our campus who had finished the World Race and are seeking God and His Kingdom in this next season of their lives.

300.  On fire for the Lord.  As I watched our group of Gap Year students, I was literally amazed!  One night as our session wrapped up, they took over the room. They started coming up on stage and challenging and encouraging each other.  There was a hunger for God in the room, and an expectation that He was in their midst and ready to move in and through them.  They prayed over one another, and I felt like I was in the presence of spiritual giants, who weren’t satisfied to live a life where their relationship with Jesus is confined to a couple hours a week.  They knew that the Holy Spirit had put something in them that others needed to experience.  I knew in that moment that I was standing on holy ground.  And it was amazing.  And most of them are 19 years old.

19.  I think of how friends like this could have impacted me when I was 19.  And I think of the college campuses they are about to go join and have an impact on.  While many fall away from Christianity in college, I am confident these guys are going to call people into a real and authentic relationship with Jesus.

And that is my payday.  Seeing people wake up to the fact that they are fully and completely loved by God, and that they have an opportunity to partner with Him every day in showing the world who He is, what He’s like, and how much He loves them.

Thanks for everything y’all do to love us, pray for us, and support us financially!  We couldn’t do it without you, and I want to share with you more often the fruit that I’m seeing.  So get ready for monthly blogs (at minimum) that will range from updates on what God is doing here in the states, around the world, and in my own life as I learn and grow as a leader and as a son of God.

Much Love,

Bill

  1. Thanks for the encouraging word. What a great time to be a part of God’s work in that generation.

  2. Amen!! On the second month of my race one of my squad mates asked, “Gisele, if you could have your 20’s back what would you do differently?” My response, “I would have surrounded myself with people who actually loved me and pursued the Lord. And be friends with people who would have given me wise counsel instead of temporary solutions to really big problems I was facing.” I was one of the oldest on my squad but man, they lit me up! Their hunger for the Lord helped fan my flame. God redeemed my 20’s by surrounding me with these spiritual giants!
